The interpreters who worked alongside American and NATO forces in Afghanistan are among our bravest and most loyal allies. They are also in danger of being abandoned.

These are their stories.

Deep in the tranquil Forest of Sivens in the south of France, eco-militant activists and French riot police are fighting a violent battle in woodlands being cut down to make way for a dam, which will spell the end for 41 acres of trees.

We go there to witness the fight.

For two weeks over the summer, we went to Aleppo and embedded with the Islamic Front, a coalition of rebels fighting the forces of President Bashar al-Assad on one front and Islamic State militants on another.
